AMERICAN RED CROSS THANKS WESTERN MICHIGAN FAIR BOARD
The American Red Cross expresses its appreciation and gratitude to the Western Michigan Fair Board for choosing the West Shore Chapter as the recipient of a portion of the funds generated by the Gift of Lights display held at the Mason County Fairgrounds during the 2004 holiday season. The American Red Cross also thanks all of the volunteers who worked the event and WKLA for sponsoring the advertising and music.
The Gift of Lights display ran nightly from November 21, 2004 – January 2, 2005. Admission to the display was $7 per vehicle, and $1 of each admission fee was donated to the West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross. Fair Board officials say that approximately 4,500 vehicles passed through the display during its first annual run. The Western Michigan Fair Board presented the American Red Cross with a check for over $4,000 in mid-January. The West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross will use the money for their building fund and for local disaster relief efforts.
The American Red Cross is a participating agency with the United Way.
