RED CROSS THANKS COMMUNITY FOR MAKING THE LAKE JUMP A SUCCESS!

--Over $17,000 raised to support local programs and services--

The West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross was selected as the beneficiary of the proceeds raised through WMOM's 7th Annual Lake Jump. The Lake Jump was held on Saturday, at Stearns Park Beach in Ludington, and generated over $17,000 in pledges.

The West Shore Chapter serves Lake, Manistee and Mason counties and is dedicated to helping the communities they serve to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. The monies raised through the Lake Jump will help to support the many lifesaving programs and services provided by the West Shore Chapter. Every day, Red Cross volunteers and staff members can be found serving the needs of our community by facilitating emergency communications between military members and their families, assisting local disaster victims, holding blood drives, teaching first aid, CPR and other health and safety courses, and providing preparedness information to area businesses and organizations.

The West Shore Chapter would like to thank all who participated in this year's Lake Jump for their part in making the event a success. Special thanks to WMOM, ServPro (exclusive corporate sponsors), the TIKI Lounge, the City of Ludington, Big Boy, WESCO, Briggs Tru Value Hardware, all emergency and rescue personnel on site including the Coast Guard, Life EMS, Ludington City Police Department, Ludington City Fire Department, Pere Marquette and Hamlin Twp. Fire Departments, and all other volunteer event staff.

The West Shore Chapter also extends its sincere gratitude to the Schmid family. Eleven year old Cassidy Schmid "jumped" in memory of her father, Dave "Speedo" Schmid, who had participated in the Lake Jump every year until his untimely death last August. Cassidy succeeded in raising over $4,000 in support of her jump, and is now the highest single fundraiser in the history of the Lake Jump.

If you need to turn in your Lake Jump pledges, you can drop them off at the WMOM studios in downtown Ludington (206 E. Ludington Ave.), or send them to the West Shore Chapter at 1644 W. U.S. Hwy 10, Scottville MI 49454. Checks should be made payable to: American Red Cross - West Shore Chapter. The West Shore Chapter is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code and all Lake Jump contributions are tax deductible.
