CHAPTER GEARS UP WITH DISASTER PREPAREDNESS FAIR & CPR CLASSES
The West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting a Disaster Preparedness Fair on August 23rd beginning at 6:30 PM at the chapter headquarters for all chapter disaster volunteers and community individuals interested in becoming disaster volunteers. The fair will include preparing current volunteers for responding to the hurricane season, single family fires, floods, county disaster drills and other disasters affecting Lake, Manistee and / or Mason counties. Community individuals interested in becoming disaster response volunteers are invited to attend. Volunteer information and networking with volunteers with who responded to last year's unprecidented hurricane season will be readily available. A presentation of our disaster volunteers' experiences will be shown throughout the evening.
The chapter is also offering a Child & Infant CPR class on September 7th beginning at 6 PM in Scottville. Class participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, how to administer the lifesaving skills of Adult CPR. Class time: 4.5 hours.
A First class will be held on September 9th starting at 9 AM in Baldwin. Our First Aid course trains individuals to become familiar with how to recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries. Provides practical skills in bandaging, splinting and slings as well as caring for bites and other basic emergency needs. Required class time: 4 hours.
Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.
