AMERICAN RED CROSS TO SUPPORT MILITARY MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH VIDEO MESSAGES.
The West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce that they will be offering military family members to create free video messages to be sent to their military service person via e-mail. This opportunity is made available through VidiSolutions, the creator of the VidiTalk program.
A two minute video message is recorded and sent to the recipient using video and audio streaming, which eliminates the sending of large attachments or the installation of specialized computer programs. While streaming video images on the Internet is not new, the technology used in the VidiTalk program allows high quality images. Video messages are uploaded to the Internet and stored on a server for future access. An e-mail is sent to the service member advising him / her of the video and a link to the server. Thus, the segment is available at any time convenient to the service member when they have computer access. "This is a great opportunity for anyone that has a relative in the military. My wife and I just completed a video for our son in the Air Force" states Dick Gregaitis, Sr. Master Sgt. USAF (Ret.)
Beginning December 11, 2006, military family members may stop in at the West Shore Chapter office located at 1644 W US-10 in Scottville between the hours of 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM to record their video message to their loved ones. If needed, after business hours and Saturday appointments may be available by calling the chapter at (231) 757-3069. The program is open to spouses, children, parents, grandparents and siblings of current acting military service personnel. Participants will need to bring their service person's e-mail address and an e-mail address where a reply can be sent. Please allow approximately 15 minutes to complete the entire recording process.
The West Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross is a United Way Member Agency.
